Team Champion System Adventure battle against World Champions and take 4th Overall in the BAISE OUTDOOR QUEST.
Asia's top adventure racing team, Champion System Adventure, managed to finish 4th overall in the BAISE OUTDOOR QUEST. The annual adventure race was held in the remote and spectacular Leye county of the Baise region in Guangxi, China. The event, organized by the Chinese Mountaineering Association, was one of the most competitive in Asia with the top three teams all including world champion adventure race athletes from Europe or New Zealand, along with other teams with athletes from 11 countries and the top teams from Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
In its third year, the annual stage race was held over 4 days in 3 stages and required competitors to mountain bike, trail run, and kayak 250 kilometers, along with other challenges like abseiling and cave navigation. One stage was broken up into two days that included a mountain run and bike before a six hour kayak leg with navigation to checkpoints on the border with Guizhou Province, followed by a 6 hour camp and then a 3-hour uphill mountain bike stage.
Team Champion System Adventure included Hong Kong-based Sui Keung (Stone) Tsang and Ryan S. Blair, Chen Chun-Ren from Taiwan, and female racer Sophie Hart of New Zealand. Team Captain, Ryan S. Blair revealed at the finish, "It was great again this year to have the top two Asian finishers on our team. The region is amazing to race through and is just filled with stunning limestone peaks....and with over 18,000ft of elevation gain in 29 hours of racing, a tough few days for our team. Mainland China's top two teams were chasing us and a higher prize purse so hard the whole way."
